Canadian Cheeses Can’t Be Beat

Are you like me – have you become a cheese fiend? Cheese is definitely my desert-island-food, my close-my-eyes-and-smile-food. Lucky for us, our Canadian cheeses are some of the best in the world.

Lucky for me, those award-winning cheeses are available at my local grocery store. There are over 300 varieties of cheese at the Zehrs down the street, including the latest winners of the Canadian Cheese Awards.  Now that’s a red carpet that I would like to walk (taste-test) my way down!

Years ago we had to seek out a specialty cheese shop in order to try the very best and to ask advice about recipes and pairings. Not today.  My local Zehrs has the Canadian Cheese of the Year winner – Avonlea Clothbound Cheddar along with many, many winners and finalists in other Canadian Cheese Awards categories.  Some of those winners include President’s Choice cheeses, found only at Loblaws brand stores.
